[ but the rest of adolphe's statement hits and he just laughs a little bit, burrowing himself more against adolphe's side affectionately because he can and adolphe has been letting him get away with it ]

[ Yves's route was... quite something. There's comfort in knowing that Yves is right by his side, even if he's not the same one that Adolphe had given his life for. He's not coughing blood, neither are fighting Bourreau... They're not "alive" but they're well. For the most part. And that's enough to be grateful for. ]

[ he laughs, because he can't read adolphe's brackets ]

It's not like I don't know what you're like. I'm aware. Despite everything, I would never get tired of you.

[ . . . he does think that's true. he was just teasing and joking, but it still warms his heart to hear. wouldn't it be nice if they could just stay like this?

(some ache in his heart does whisper: wouldn't it be nice if they could be a little bit more? no, he shouldn't take anymore from adolphe than he already has ) ]

I still wish you could stop being so reckless, but you know better than everyone that if I didn't really care about you, I wouldn't keep saying that.

... But I don't think it's really that amazing. It's who you are, and you still deserve to be loved like anybody else. Nothing makes you exempt from that.

[ He says this, but Adolphe is always a hypocrite when it comes to himself. He doesn't think that anyone would love him at all, nor does he deserve anything like that, despite Yves being right here, in front of him, offering that love to him. Things like that can't go away overnight, but it persistently clings to him. Yves is a better person than he'll ever be, and that's fine. That's why he entrusted Ceres to him, after all. Even if this one isn't the same Yves that he died for, it's still Yves. Nothing more, nothing less. ]

It's true, you'd just leave me in the dust!

[ DOES NOT CONFIRM OR DENY WHETHER HE'S GOING TO KEEP BEING RECKLESS but he laughs a little to himself even as adolphe goes on. he says it with such confidence. and because it's adolphe, it's easier for yves to believe. so he smiles back and doesn't hide the warmth and affection in his expression. ]

So you won't get tired of me because I deserve to be loved? [ does that mean you'll be the one to love me? is on the tip of his tongue, but there are limits to how much he'll tease. and hope. ]
